A Model Snow Day

Last Sunday some friends and I were invited to come out to Hanscom Park here in Omaha and photograph some models playing in the snow. I got to tell you it was damn cold but the models were real troopers. They did not have on nearly as much as the photographers. The park turned out to be a great location shooting spot. Lots of trees, hills and equipment. Here is a couple of my shots.

Back From The Groomers

It has been a little while since my last post. Time flyies when your having fun. Anyway Cindy is finally getting over whatever she had and the pup Roxie is starting to learn potty training and how to piss off the big dog Pookie. Every day there is a couple of stare down barking matches. Roxie is making it through the night without having to go outside and thanks to Cindy's early rising she is doing good. (Did I tell you that I would not have choose Winter to train a new pup)?

I have taken another step in my photography hobby by joining up with some Omaha photographers I don't even know. There is a group call Meetups that has an Omaha Photography group. It is just area photographers that like to socialize and take pictures together. I am kind of shy (I know you don't believe that) so this is kind of a big step for me. I actually enjoyed meeting the others at the first face to face meeting. The local Zoo club has apparently folded so this will give me another outlet for my hobby.

Today I am supposed to go out to Hanscome park and photograph some models having a snowball fight. I will go if there is no freezing rain.

Will here is a picture of Roxie after her first haircut. We can see her eyes now.

People and Computers

Do you ever wonder why some people are allowed to have computers? Gee did I just sound like Andy Rooney?

I just spent two days at my Daughter-in-laws trying to fix there lap top that had the administrator account locked up. I got it fixed and I am now the only administrator on the thing. So next time, and there will be a next time, I should be able to get in and fix it easier.

This brings me to wonder why people are not required to pass a test before they can have a computer. If they fail the test, they should have to take a basic training course before they can have one. I believe the majority of people with computers have no idea what they are doing. They don't practice "safe computing" and they don't watch over what there kids do on the computer. Some times even the parents show the kids how to get into things that they should not.

I am lucky. I spent most of my career fighting the computer demons (software programs). So I gained a lot of knowledge on the company's dime. Now that I am retired, it is getting more difficult for even me to keep up with the technology changes and keep away from the bad computer demons. But I'm tryin'.

Thanks for stopping by......... Do you ever wonder???????

Photo A Day Project

Yesterday I renewed my efforts to continue my photo a day (PAD) project. I found a spreadsheet that laid out a theme for each week that should help me keep focused a little better. The day was chilly but nice and this weeks theme is COLD. How convenient.

I took this downtown by the river. the location was Rick's Boatyard and the pedestrian bridge. I think it conveys COLD pretty well.

Don't forget to check out my gallery.

New Beginning

It's Monday and since I am retired I have kind of made myself treat each day as if I was still working, although I am working on what I want to do. So after my morning ritual of checking numerous web sites and blogs I am going to get ready to go to the gym. I am trying to lose some weight but it is really difficult. I need to figure out a way for me to eat right and exercise right so that I don't feel pressured. That was always the way it felt when I was working. I was a software support geek for the Union Pacific Railroad and there was always someone or something pressuring me. My best bosses finally figured out that the way to get things done by me and quickly was to give me a task and get out of my way. No pressure. I guess that is why I rebel a lot now since I am more in control of my time (except for honey dos). I need to change that some. I need to make more time for others. And if I do start to feel too pressured, I need to back out of some of my activities.

Boy that is a lot of rambling. But I'm posting.....

Anyway, stop by my web site and gallery when you have time. I am still refining those things but right now I gots to go to the gym, Leroy.

New Year, New Start

Well I guess I will give this blogging thingy another try. I need to blog about something that I am passionate about and that seems to be photography, camera club, grand kids and family in general. Not necessarily in that order. So my mission is to post something here at least twice a week. It may be photos, post processing techniques, something about kids and/or family, or maybe just something stupid I have done ( this alone could fill several blogs). Daily I follow other blogs and web sites so if I pick up something tasty from one of these places, I will mention it here ( and hopefully give credit where it is due).

I started a 365 project the first of November and I have kind of petered out. But hey, new year, new start. So even though this photo is kind of lame it tells a story about what gas prices were on 1-1-2011.

$2.93 sucks.
