Cox Classic Media Day

Yesterday I started my annual mission to photograph various events for the 2012 Cox Classic at Champions golf course in Omaha. The first event was the Media Day outing for local media personnel. It was a fun event and it was evident when talking to the various folks as they past by my area. They all said that there were other people photographing them on the course and they were all cuter than me. Hmmmm. Oh well, I have included here four of the on-air personalities from two of the local stations. Guess the other two stations don't have any avid golfers. More blogs will be coming as the tournament unfolds, which is August 2nd thru the 5th. Thanks for stopping by.

It's All About Competition.....................

The last few days my buddy over at Iowa farm Boy posted some more pictures from our NHRA drag race trip to Topeka KS. They were of burn outs and wheelies from the door slammers (street cars). So I decided to throw a couple up here to compete a little. He also put up a really attractive picture of me (not). Hope you enjoy these and thanks for stopping by.

Boy would I like to be these photographers just once.

And Now, The Rest of The Story..............

As promised in my last blog I am showing you what else happened to the dragster as he progressed down the track. He blew an oil line and caught fire. Now this is something that the NHRA track officials frown on because it oils down the track and they have to pause in the action to clean it up and prepare the surface again. You may ask what preparation are done to the track. They have to scrape the rubber laid down by the race cars and then apply a sticky substance to the surface to allow the racers tires get a better grip on the track. Besides frowning on this "oiling down" the racer is fined $1000. So you can see this was a bad run all the way around.

I have finished off this photo two different ways. Let me know which you like better (or not).

This Can't Be Good............

Went to the NHRA drags in Topeka, KS last Sunday. turned out to be great weather and good racing. Top speed this day was 329 mph and this was done in 1000ft. This is the new distance NHRA has set to for safety reasons. I managed to get a few good shots (I think) of the action. Below is a lucky bonus shot of a dragster that is not having a good day. come back again to see what the results of the run looked like.

A Flashback Challenge

I happened to have last Wednesday off work so I drove over to Flashbacks for the weekly car show. I was hoping to meet up with my buddy Rich (Iowa * Farm * Boy) and do a little photo shootin' of the cars. Alas he did not show up while I was there but I got some good shots (I think). So here is one of them after running it through some post processing and painterly programs. Hope you like it. Thanks for stopping by and please visit my site if you would like to purchase a photo at gary-prill.fineartamerica.com .

Where's the Beef????

Last Saturday I attended the Omaha Beef indoor football game. Two of my grandsons were performing at half time with the Rump Roasters (some rather large and silly guys). The Rump Roasters perform during the game for the fans and at half time. Also at half time there are other groups performing. The above group was some champion baton twirlers. Everyone got a chance two show their stuff. I saw this little girl and I guess she decided that if you don't know the routine, make up your own.

You can check out the boys photos at Grandsons dance with rump roasters . And thanks for stopping by. You can check out my photos for sale at Gary's Photos .

Survived the First Weekend

Well it's Monday morning and I'm still moving (although a little slow). It is surprising how hard it is to get back into the work force after sitting on you butt for 10 years. Luckily most of the folks I work with at the golf course are retired too so I don't have to deal much with taking orders from youngin's. I also have learned there are a lot of little things that go into running an attractive golf course. Cleaning carts, pricking up golf balls on the driving range, washing the golf balls, emptying trash, pulling up your pants because you no longer have a butt, etc.

Your not going to see any pictures on here right now because I have not become one of the good old boys yet. I have seen an eagles nest (don't know if it is inhabited or not) and was told that there are some foxes running around. Maybe I will get some photo ops later.

At least now I have something to blog about so check back once in a while. Thanks for stopping by.
